Amazon Australia Announces Free 1 Day Prime Delivery For Melbourne & Sydney
Amazon Australia has today announced that they can now offer free 1-day prime delivery to most areas around Melbourne and Sydney. When we first covered the launch of Amazon Australia, it was widely talked about how one of the biggest challenges Amazon would face in the country was the logistics for such a big country with a spread-out population.

Fortunately, Amazon has tackled the two largest areas first in Melbourne and Sydney, and it would make sense that Brisbane would be the next obvious choice for the future.
The question still remains around Perth as the only major city that resides on Australia’s west coast and is literally on the other side of the country from the other major cities in Australia.
This is still great news for Amazon down under and will give Australians on the east coast a taste of what the Amazon Prime convenience is all about.

The Amazon Australia Announcement
Amazon Australia has today announced the launch of FREE One-Day Delivery on eligible items for Prime members in most areas of Melbourne and Sydney, making it even more convenient to shop on Amazon.com.au.
Prime is Amazon’s membership program offering unparalleled value for members through the best of shopping, savings, and entertainment. Prime members can now enjoy even faster shipping with FREE One-Day Delivery on eligible items across amazon.com.au, with no minimum spend, when shipping to the majority of postcodes in Melbourne and Sydney.
Hundreds of thousands of products across categories including toys, household and personal care, electronics, books, pantry staples, and more are eligible for Prime FREE One-Day Delivery. Eligible items can be identified by the ‘Prime FREE One-Day’ or ‘Prime One-Day’ icon. Prime members ordering to the majority of postcodes in Melbourne and Sydney can now place their order on eligible items before the One-Day Delivery order cut-off time, which can be as late as midnight, to receive their items the next day, with no minimum spend required.
“We know that Australian customers are always looking for value through great prices and fast delivery, so we’re thrilled to be able to make Prime even more convenient with FREE One-Day Delivery. Whether you are after something to entertain the kids, a last-minute gift, or need to restock on household essentials, our fast, free Prime delivery options provide a convenient solution, and offer members in most areas of Melbourne and Sydney access to free one-day delivery on a huge selection of products.”
“Our ability to offer customers faster delivery speeds is a direct result of our continued investment and expansion of our operations in Australia. Building fulfillment centers and delivery stations close to where our customers live and work, means packages travel shorter distances, accelerating shipping speeds,”
Janet Menzies, Country Manager, Amazon Australia.
Prime members who are not in an eligible postcode will still benefit from free delivery in as fast as two days on eligible orders and will also experience enhancements in delivery speed as Amazon Australia continues to invest in its operations and logistics network. Over the coming months, Amazon Australia aims to expand product selection and delivery areas eligible for Amazon’s Prime FREE One-Day Delivery to provide more Australian Prime members access to even more products, faster.
Amazon Australia has more than doubled its operational footprint in 2022 with the launch of its first robotics fulfillment center earlier this year. With this expansion, the company now has storage space across six fulfillment centers, doubling its capacity for small to medium-sized items, such as consumer electronics, books, toys, cosmetics, and pantry items. This expanded fulfillment network will support many of the small and medium size Australian businesses that use Fulfilment by Amazon to seamlessly service customers around Australia.
