As many had suspected Amazon will be opening their marketplace doors for the first time in Australia just in time for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and of course the run up to Christmas.
Amazon Australia Arrives
The launch is reported to be a soft launch for a few carefully selected merchants and sellers.
We know this as some of our friends down in Australia have just received an email confirming that Amazon Australia will be going live on Thursday 23 November at 2pm AEST.
We reported last week that Amazon had started populating products on their marketplace which were all ‘currently unavailable’ and now it looks like we have a live date.
Sellers who are not ready to begin selling have been told to mark their accounts as inactive, however this would seem a huge opportunity missed and we would say to any sellers, make sure you are ready to sell on Thursday.
We are also hearing reports that Amazon are planning a marketing campaign on Thursday which involves handing out free ice creams at train stations across Australia to raise awareness that the Amazon marketplace is now open for business.
Are you one of the sellers that will be selling from Thursday afternoon? Let us know in the comments below!
