Situated in the Jandakot Airport Commercial Precinct, the new center will replace the existing site near Perth Airport and is more than twice its size.

Once fully operational, the new fulfillment center will provide over 200 job opportunities, including approximately 100 new positions and roles transferred from the current facility.

This expansion will increase Amazon’s operational presence in Western Australia by more than 60%, allowing the company to better cater to the growing customer base in the region.

Spanning approximately 20,000 square meters (215,000 s.f.), equivalent to the size of the WACA cricket ground, the fulfillment center will have the capacity to accommodate more than 3 million items available on the platform.

The new facility will boost storage capacity by 500%, benefitting sellers, including local small and medium-sized businesses, and increasing the number of items that can be shipped directly to Western Australian customers.

Amazon Australia Investing for the Future

“We are investing significantly in our Perth operations as part of our ongoing commitment to improve selection and delivery outcomes for customers throughout the state,” said Mindy Espidio-Garcia, Director of Operations at Amazon Australia.

“Many Prime members in greater Perth will have already enjoyed free next day delivery from Amazon and the opening of this site will increase the selection of items that can be shipped to local customers quickly,

“Nearly 1,000 construction jobs were created during the build and fit out, and we look forward to welcoming a team of more than 200 people working at the FC once it’s fully up and running.

“People are at the heart of our operations and we are proud to offer a safe and positive work environment and the opportunity for them to build their skills and grow their careers.”

The majority of jobs will be permanent full-time positions with competitive compensation and benefits, such as subsidized healthcare and up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave.

Glenn Howes, a member of the pack team at Amazon’s current fulfillment center in Perth’s Airport Precinct, will relocate to the Jandakot fulfillment center upon its opening.

After visiting the new site for an initial tour, Howes expressed his admiration for its size and scale, highlighting the substantial growth of Amazon Australia and the opportunity to work alongside a diverse and highly educated team.

“The size and scale of the new FC is so much bigger than I thought. Seeing it makes you realize how big it is. We have six inbound docks at our current site at the airport and there’s 17 here,” added Howes.

Since launching in December 2017, Amazon Australia has experienced significant growth, now offering customers over 200 million products across 31 categories with a continuously expanding selection.

Amazon has empowered over 14,000 Australian businesses, including many small and medium-sized Australian enterprises, to reach customers nationwide and globally.

The company has invested more than AUD $8.4 billion in Australia across all its businesses since 2011.

Currently, Amazon Australia employs over 7,000 individuals in the country across various sectors, including amazon.com.au, Amazon Web Services, Kindle, Audible, Alexa, and Prime Video.
