Amazon Changes App Icon After Comparison to Hitler Mustache Hits Social Media

Under the column, that’s embarrassing; Amazon quietly tweaked its new App logo to remove a design resemblance social media users called out to look a little too much like Hitler’s toothbrush mustache.

The App icon, which rolled out back in January, was supposed to take cues from the company’s iconic brown boxes with a smile and blue packing tape. But it quickly drew critical comparisons to the infamous mustache and the Third Reich, not the kind of association Amazon wants.

While the company never acknowledged the controversy, over the last 24 hours, Amazon rolled out a new icon to devices that removes the graphic similarities. Most users should see the updated Amazon icon on their mobile device either now or very soon, depending on their update cycle settings.
