There is a real battle going on between Amazon and Google in the smart speaker market, one we will highlight in more detail soon.
This announcement by Amazon further tries to expand the usefulness of its Echo smart speaker products by expanding on a core function of the higher end units, quality music and sound.
With voice eCommerce becoming more popular and integrated into various marketplaces and websites, the battle for the ecosystem that is used in a home is huge.
If Amazon can maintain the large lead it has in the smart speaker market, it will also keep a significant lead in eCommerce voice integrated shopping.
While Google may have made deals with rivals such as Walmart, the Amazon ecosystem is more integrated and further along than Google.
And for small business marketplace sellers, this also means they have to deal with the reality that future voice shopping sales may have to come through the giant online retailer’s ecosystem.

Of note here is that many European countries border Germany and it seems Amazon has chosen Germany as a central location for servicing other countries with products.
Recently, Amazon announced Prime next day service delivery to Luxembourg and Switzerland, both managed from German warehouses.
Amazon is poised to change shopping around the world and while its latest expansion in Australia had a few hiccups, there is no doubt that on the global scale it is Amazon vs Alibaba.
