Except for the Covid-19 lockdown-postponed 2020 Prime Day, this is the second planned shopping event in the fall, following the “Amazon Prime Early Access Sale” held last year on October 11 and 12.
During that event, Amazon Prime members ordered more than 100 million items from Amazon selling partners, mainly small and medium-sized businesses. That stat alone shows this fall sale is a great opportunity for Amazon sellers to jump-start their holiday season.
Despite the success of last year, data from Numerator, a market intelligence firm, revealed an interesting comparison between the regular Prime Day and the Prime Early Access Sale in 2022.
The average order value (AOV) during the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale was $46.68, notably lower than the $60.29 observed during Prime Day 2022. It’s possible that global inflationary concerns could have suppressed AOV. That will be an intriguing data point to follow this year.
Regardless, just like last year’s Prime Day and the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale, the company aims to provide Prime members with some of the best bargains from Amazon-owned brands, major brands, and participating selling partners during this year’s Prime Big Deal Days.
Amazon revealed last year that some of the best-selling products globally were in the Apparel, Home, Toys, and Amazon devices categories. Being a pre-holiday season event, that is expected to be similar again.
No Date Yet for Amazon Prime Big Deal Days
Unconfirmed by the company but substantiated by an email sent to sellers, the Prime Big Deal Days event had been anticipated since June, although it was referred to as the “Prime Fall Deal Event” in that email.
With the success of last year’s October event, it will again provide valuable opportunities for shoppers to snag “pre-holiday season” deals.
However, the company has not revealed an exact date yet, and it will likely be again two days around the second week of October, a few weeks before Amazon ramps up its holiday season promotions in November.
Doug Herrington, CEO of Amazon Stores, said on LinkedIn, “We’ll share more details soon as we get closer to the event.”
This year, Prime Big Deal Days will span 19 countries (up from 15 in 2022), including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the U.S., and the UK.
“I can’t wait to give our Prime members access to exclusive early savings this season,” added Herrington.
