Whilst it isn’t the ‘full suite’ of Amazon Prime that the UK and USA are used to it is a great start for Australian customers and will undoubtedly get bulked out over the next few months and years as the Amazon infrastructure widens.
Amazon Prime AU Features
Perhaps what Amazon Prime was most famous for was the free delivery aspect and that is what is at the fore front of Amazon Prime Australia.
Free two business day delivery is available to customers in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney and regional cities such as Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Gold Coast, Gosford, Newcastle, Toowoomba, Wagga Wagga and a selection of others.
For more remote areas this will be limited to free four day delivery for the time being. As more fulfilment centres get built across Australia, expect that free next day and same day delivery options will become available.
Other features for Australian Prime include:
- Free delivery on millions of items
- Exclusive access to Prime Originals through Amazon Video
- Access to Prime Reading
- Exclusive early access to Prime Deals
The good news for Australians is that the price is about half the price of Amazon Prime in the USA. For an annual membership the cost is $59 compared to the U.S. Prime which is $119.
Will we see Prime Day in Australia?
That last bullet point leaves us to believe that Australia will get to experience their first Prime Day in 2018.
We have already put our guess out there that Prime Day will be held on the 11th July and if this comes to Australia it could be set for Amazon to have the biggest global Prime Day ever.
We will keep you posted once we have official word from Amazon on Prime Day 2018. In the mean time if you are Australian will you be getting involved with a Prime membership? Let us know down below or over on our Facebook group.
