Amazon to Shut Down Amazon Prime Now Fast Delivery App
Amazon announced it will shut down Amazon Prime Now, its standalone fast delivery app and service the company launched in 2014. The Prime Now app allowed shoppers to purchase select products for 1 to 2 hour delivery in Prime Now enabled markets.

But, Amazon is not doing away with fast delivery. Instead, Amazon will incorporate the Prime Now fast delivery service into its main Amazon app.
“To make this experience even more seamless for customers, we are moving the experience from a separate Prime Now app onto the Amazon app and website so customers can shop all Amazon has to offer from one convenient location.”
Stephenie Landry, vice president of grocery at Amazon
For the most part, Amazon Prime Now offered essentials and grocery items for fast delivery. The company plans to continue to offer fast delivery on those items through its Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods, both of which are already incorporated in the main Amazon app.
For most small business third-party marketplace sellers, this change will have minimal if any effect. It’s actually possible that Amazon may expand fast delivery availability to more products in its Amazon app as the company continues to bring more products faster to more addresses around the country. For example, Amazon recently expanded its in-garage grocery delivery to over 5,000 cities.
In just over 6 years, Amazon Prime Now grew to a point where the company used dedicated warehouses for this service. It’s unclear if will continue to operate the fast delivery service from these dedicated warehouses only or if the company will bring those warehouses into its standard logistics network.
