Recently, Etsy CEO Josh Silverman suggested that artisans and sellers of unique products may have an excellent opportunity to cash in this year more than ever.
In addition, a QuickBooks survey revealed that consumers have an increased appetite to shop micro and small businesses this holiday season as they feel this is very important to help these businesses make it through the pandemic.
Avoid Black Friday Rush – Shop on Artists Sunday
Due to the uncertainty of what shoppers will find in stores on Black Friday and the possibility of long lines at big-box stores, Artists Sunday is a great opportunity to support a local artist.
Local artisans, including artists, creators, makers, and performers are stepping up to meet the demand for quality gifts with handmade, creative items and experiences perfect for the holiday season said the groups supporting the Artists Sunday national shopping day.
Over 550 communities across the country will hold an Artists Sunday event, the national art-shopping day on Sunday after Thanksgiving – November 28. Additionally, 4,200 individual artists are participating directly in this Black Friday style event for art.
“The supply chain shortages have affected everything from electronics, furniture, appliances, sporting goods and more. But local artists, creators and makers have a fantastic assortment of gift items readily available for the discerning shopper. Top picks include a variety of handcrafted items, including ceramics, wood, glass, wall hangings, clothing, paper times, jewelry, wellness and more.”
Artists Sunday founder Christopher V. Sherman
On Artists Sunday, consumers will find a variety of art, handcrafted items, experiences, and performances, with items and services that are both practical and beautiful.
Shoppers may also be able to commission personalized gifts that can be picked up locally and do not get stuck in what is expected to be another holiday season full of shipping challenges.
Artists Sunday on November 28, 2021, is positioned during the year’s busiest holiday shopping weekend. It falls between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.
The event unites artists and communities across the country, all promoting purchases from local artisans. The promoters of Artists Sunday are calling it the “Earth’s Largest Art Event.”
While the event focuses on local selling, this is also a good opportunity for those shoppers that cannot get out that day to look at the many participating artist’s social media pages, web and marketplace stores.
