Amazon’s Prime Now makes sure that customers can get same day delivery service for their products across multiple cities in the UK.
A new start-up has burst on to the scene and is challenging Amazon in that service. Deliv has expanded its operations to 1,400 cities, posing a challenge to Amazon.
Deliv – Same Day Delivery Competition
Deliv is a crowd sourced same day delivery start-up that has a partnership with 4,000 retailers to bring same day delivery services to customers.
It has expanded to 33 markets, up from just 19 markets. In some ways this is a challenge to Amazon Prime Now’s same day delivery service.
Another large company competing with Amazon Prime Now for same day delivery service is Google. The importance of same day delivery service is growing, which means companies are striving to fulfill this especially with the rise of eCommerce.
Amazon though still dominates much of this, as many retailers are selling through Amazon’s marketplace. This makes Amazon a large competitor especially for those that are just beginning like Deliv.
Going head-on against it would not be good, so smaller competitors are looking to alternatives in competing with Amazon without going directly against it.
For Deliv, that means getting products out for delivery same day and being competitive on cost is key.
Daphne Carmeli, CEO for Deliv, has said that speed, flexibility and a broad national footprint are needed in order to keep up with larger players such as Amazon and Google.
Adding more cities would mean building up on what Deliv has already started on, including Deliv Fresh for groceries and food.
As eCommerce expands, many companies such as Deliv would come up as well in order to give same day delivery for customers.
This would mean products get to customers much faster, which in turn will make eCommerce expand even more and produce more awareness to people.
We think competition in the same day delivery space for eCommerce is a good thing, what do you think? Are you excited at the prospect of wider same day delivery? Let us know down below.
