With a significant investment of around $18 million, the company can now handle a higher volume of domestic shipments and serve the entire U.S. Midwest area.
The state-of-the-art facility, situated at 11500 North Congress in Kansas City, MO, spans an impressive 124,700 square feet and offers convenient access to the Kansas City International Airport, as well as major freeways I-435 Loop and I-29.
This modern facility, situated on approximately 11 acres, features a range of amenities designed to optimize operations.
It includes warehouse space, conference rooms, training facilities, and office areas, all maintained at controlled temperatures.
Notably, the building was constructed with environmentally friendly elements, such as LED lighting, energy-efficient HVAC systems, roller shade windows, and clerestory windows with glazing.
Additionally, two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have been installed, highlighting DHL eCommerce Solutions’ commitment to sustainability.
Compared to its previous location in St. Louis at 11401 Moog Dr., the new Kansas City facility is twice the size, allowing for a substantial increase in parcel and package processing capacity.
Equipped with two NPI Gen3 Xstream Dual Lane Sliding Shoe Sorters, the distribution center has the ability to process an impressive 28,000 parcels per hour, directing them to various bin destinations like tubs, carts, and gaylords.
“The Kansas City metropolitan area is rapidly expanding, and it’s the perfect location for DHL eCommerce Solutions to have a larger, fully customized facility that will assist us in growing our footprint in the Midwest,” said Lee Spratt, CEO of DHL eCommerce Solutions, Americas.
DHL eCommerce Solutions has been implementing its expansion plans throughout the United States, with recent relocations of its Stow, Ohio operation and Salt Lake City distribution center.
These strategic moves demonstrate the company’s commitment to providing efficient and reliable services to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
