eBay for the longest time had pretty much exclusivity as a product marketplace in Australia and when Amazon arrived in threatened their market hugely.
In response eBay Australia have really come out fighting to protect their market lead with a number of new policies and innovations which still seem exclusive to the Oceanic region.
eBay Introduce Fulfilment!
The breaking news today is that eBay Australia have announced a partnership with Australia Post and Fulfilio to act as the official eBay fulfilment partner.
In an obvious attempt to combat Amazon Prime delivery promises which will no doubt come as Amazon expand their infrastructure, eBay have put together this network to bring Australian sellers their own solution.
Fulfilio have a national network of warehouses across the country which means being able to get delivery of your products to customers much quicker than normal.
Of course eBay are incentivising this by stating sellers will gain “Increased exposure for your listings with eBay Guaranteed Delivery and eBay Plus” as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.
Why Is eBay Fulfilment A Good Thing?
This news does make the eBay ban on Amazon FBA and other 3PL companies make more sense as they had this up their sleeve about to roll out. Whilst Fulfilio states you can use their network to fulfil orders from other sales channels it will be interesting to see if Amazon returns the favour.
Let’s take a look at why the eBay Fulfilment Program is a good thing for sellers:
Benefits for you
- Market leading prices
- Multi-channel fulfilment solution
- Nationwide warehouse locations
- Access to eBay Guaranteed Delivery and eBay Plus (If eligible)
- Deals and retail promotions participation (If eligible)
Benefits for your customers
- Fast fulfilment
- Guaranteed delivery
- Lower costs
- Improved shopping experience
- Greater selection on eBay Plus items
