She joins collectible start-up Alt as President and her appointment was announced today by Alt on LinkedIn.
“We’re excited to share that Nicole Colombo is joining Alt as our first President, overseeing the company strategy and all of marketing, customer experience, and business development. Nicole is an industry veteran and brings over 15 years of experience in operations, merchandising and strategy. Her leadership will help us continue to build products and experiences that cater to a new generation of investors in alternative assets.”
Alt Statement
Alt is a hot new marketplace that received some $31 million in funding earlier this year and has been making noise in the growing space since its launch.
At eBay, Colombo helped the company grow the collectibles category by 142% improving much-needed seller and buyer experiences, including expanding the marketplace’s offerings to NFTs.
In its earnings reports, eBay has touted the marketplace’s growth in the collectibles categories as a significant piece of its recent success and strategy as the company shifted focus to attract more “not-new” products to separate itself from Amazon and other online marketplaces.
Colombo will bring a tremendous amount of category insight to Alt, that will help the fledgling marketplace better compete against eBay, but also other recent entrants into the collectibles market.
“Alt is changing the way people approach collectibles as alternative assets. I’m excited to be joining the team and to help investors, flippers and collectors realize the potential of alternative assets.”
Nicole Colombo, President, Alt
This appears to be a significant loss for eBay and the company has not named a successor to take over the important and growing category.
