eBay

Newly crowned eBay Chief Marketing Officer and VP of Seller Community Andrea Stairs announced this week new dates and meeting opportunities the company is hosting for sellers. The big news is that eBay Open is coming back in 2021 but as a virtual event dubbed eBay Open Online.

She said that eBay Open Online will be held on August 3-5 and this year it will also be a free event for sellers. The company skipped eBay Open in 2020, due to the uncertainty of the COVID pandemic.

For those not familiar with eBay Open, the seller conference is a popular multi-day event previously held in Las Vegas where the company showcased new features, technology and celebrated seller achievements.

It also included workshops to help sellers with selling and operating on the marketplace and hosted a vendor section for third-party suppliers to showcase their services. The virtual event will likely be slightly different from the previous in-person conference and eBay plans to release more details about eBay Open Online 2021 later in May.

More eBay Seller Outreach Events

Despite COVID restriction impacting almost all sellers in some way, eBay wants sellers to stay connected with the company. eBay will continue to hold its virtual eBay Seller Check-In events, with the next one scheduled for February 24. During eBay Seller Check-Ins, the company discusses the latest marketplace and product updates, offer tips and tricks to sellers, and answers seller questions live. The monthly agenda and participants will be announced about three weeks prior to each event.

eBay is also encouraging sellers to meet-up with other sellers at local Seller Meetings. Seller Meetings are led by sellers in local communities around North America and offer the opportunity to interact with other sellers and learn from each other. If there is not a chapter in a seller’s area, the company accepts applications from interested sellers to form a local group. Again, most Seller Meetings right now are virtual events.

Unfortunately, one popular in-person event series, eBay UpFront, will continue to be on hold due to the COVID pandemic. UpFront events are a bit of a traveling roadshow by eBay corporate staff to interact with sellers in regional mini-conferences. Both the eBay Open Online and eBay Seller Check-Ins will act as virtual substitutes in 2021 for the UpFront events.

Furthermore, sellers can stay connected to eBay through eBay Community Forums, the Seller News Announcement board, eBay for Business on Facebook, eBay for Business Podcast, and on eBay for Business YouTube channel.

And sellers should take a look at eBay Seller School, a virtual learning platform that offers courses for selling on eBay but also provides lessons on how seasoned sellers can improve their business on the marketplace.

New eBay Seller Events Page

With the COVID pandemic continuing to impact in-person meetings and travel, most of eBay’s outreach to sellers will stay virtual in 2021. But the company appears to be offering many virtual opportunities for sellers to learn about the latest updates, tips & tricks on selling, and stay connected and engaged.

To help sellers track the latest events eBay is hosting, the company started a new page, eBay Seller Events, where it aggregates in one place all seller events it sponsors and hosts. This should make it easier for sellers to see all the events in one place instead of having to search around the eBay community sections.
