Originally founded in August 2008 by Alan Vinogradov, Barris Vinogradov, and Yu-Ming Wu, the first Sneaker Con event was held in New York City in March 2009.
Since its founding, Sneaker Con has expanded to over 40 cities worldwide and has drawn over 1 million attendees, hosting thousands of sneaker fanatics at each event. It also expanded its business to enable consumers to transact digitally with authentication centers, which are now part of eBay’s business.
With eBay’s recent focus on high-end sneakers, and the company acquiring the Sneaker Con authentication business in 2021, the two companies continue to collaborate on sponsorship and event support in markets where it’s advantageous for eBay.
Sneaker Con Chicago Presented by eBay
In Chicago, eBay’s authentication experts will be available at the two-day Sneaker Con Chicago event to authenticate sneakers for free. This should further solidify eBay’s promotional efforts and market penetration in the sneakers category.
Sneaker Con Chicago is poised to be another exciting event for sneaker enthusiasts, featuring a diverse selection of sneakers, influencer meet-ups, content creation, and the before-mentioned immediate Authenticity Guarantee service from eBay.
There will also be a main stage for game shows and prizes, and the world-famous Sneaker Con Trading Pit where anyone can buy, sell, and trade sneakers. Furthermore, attendees can explore streetwear, vintage items, sports memorabilia, and discover emerging brands.
