Since 2010, American Express has been celebrating Small Business Saturday on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. The 8th annual American Express Small Business Saturday celebration is scheduled for November 25, 2017.
The idea behind Small Business Saturday is to promote small businesses from restaurants to boutique stores in the local community.
“We are proud to see how Small Business Saturday continues to inspire communities. This year we will again celebrate the small businesses that make our neighborhoods feel like home.
We’ve seen firsthand that when small businesses thrive, our neighborhoods, towns and cities thrive. So this Small Business Saturday we encourage everyone to visit the diverse range of small businesses that make up the fabric of their communities.”
Elizabeth Rutledge, Executive Vice President, Global Advertising and Brand Management at American Express
Shop Small® for the Holidays with Etsy
This year, Etsy will be part of this annual celebration with their Etsy Made Local pop-up markets.
Etsy sellers in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, San Antonio, and Wichita will provide a destination for shoppers to buy locally crafted and one-of-a-kind items for the holidays.
The markets in the cities mentioned will open up on American Express Small Business Saturday, but Etsy maintains a list of more Made Local pop-up markets in other cities on different days.
Do you run an Etsy store in one of the cities on the Made Local pop-up markets list? If so do you plan to participate in this opportunity to meet local shoppers for your products? We always welcome your thoughts in the comments section below.
