Sellers and online merchants who use Dymo label printers may find themselves with a huge problem on Monday as the latest Windows update Microsoft pushed to computers over the last few days is not compatible with the current DYMO software with most users getting blank labels.
“The latest version of DYMO Connect and DYMO Label Software is not compatible with Microsoft’s recent Windows update and consumers may have user experience issues. Please follow the instructions available here to solve the issue of printing blank labels. Thank you for your understanding and our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.”Dymo Statement on Support Website
In addition to the problems DYMO identified, there may be more issues with this update that could impact printers from other manufacturers and networked printers, Bleeping Computer reports.
Unfortunately, it appears the best solution for users experiencing printer compatibility issues is to completely uninstall the most recent Windows 10 update as described by the DYMO support document. DYMO does offer a second option for their printers that includes installing an older version of their software.
The company says its developers are working on a permanent solution to this problem, but the company did not provide an estimate of when that may become available.
Update – Zebra Label Printers Too
We are also seeing reports this morning of this problem potentially impacting Zebra label printers as well. Zebra has not acknowledged this issue but there is at least one post in the Zebra support forums that seems to match the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) problems being reported by computer publications and on Reddit.
For shippers who use UPS and FedEx software and received their printers from the carrier, those printers are typically Zebra printers and this problem could affect their systems as well.
Microsoft has also acknowledged this problem now as a “Known Issue.”
