Alexa will be able to offer more than just updates on your Amazon purchases, it will also be able to control your smartphone, play music, answer questions, check news, weather & traffic, and of course you will have access to Alexa’s 10,000+ skills.
The capabilities being rolled out will effectively be equal to Amazon’s integration of Alexa in their Amazon Fire tablets.
One notable difference is that you will have to do it all from within Amazon’s shopping app, so it is not a replacement of Siri, but in addition to Siri.
