Another Sneaky eBay Stealth Fee Increase in the UK for 2022
We have received reports from our friends and readers over in the UK that eBay has found another way to increase selling fees. This time it is by getting rid of the volume discounts that many sellers enjoyed. Whilst not applicable to all sellers, those that would turn over a high volume on eBay UK were granted discounts on their final value fees.

This applied to sellers who would sell over £25,000 worth of product in a 3 month period. Elligible sellers it seems received an email which offered no explanation as to why they were ‘changing’ the fees. Also interesting choice of words as it is more of a removal rather than a change.
You can see the email sellers received below, we have edited the image to ensure anonymity for the seller who shared it with us.

The link that they reference to the business seller fees is here, which as you can see was updated on the 16th February and appears to have removed all mention of volume discounts on final value fees.
eBay Want High Value Buyers But Not High Value Sellers?
Some may remember how last year eBay tried to defend their losing of active accounts as a strategic company decision to focus not on quantity of users, but quality. Referencing their desire to keep and nurture those high spending buyers who were loyal to eBay with the higher checkout totals.
It appears that the same is not true for their sellers. What was seen by many as a nice incentive to succeed on the platform and be rewarded for being a high volume seller in good standing is being taken away.
This could point to a troubling Q4 announcement that is pending where eBay is now resorting to desperate measures to manage the damage limitation of what may not have been a great Q4 with an even more worrying 2022 outlook.
At this time we haven’t confirmed whether US sellers have received similar emails.
