Amazon UK revealed that UK canines are gaining more love from their owners than other pets in the household.

According to Amazon, 74 percent of pet Christmas presents were purchased for dogs. The U.K.’s love for their pets appears to bring anywhere from 1 to 3 gifts to the beloved family member.

Pet owners are estimated to spend on average of £13 on their pampered pet’s presents and a recent survey found that 1 out of 10 people in the U.K. believe their pets are more appreciative of gifts than other family members.

Amazon also revealed the top 5 regions in the U.K. that are splurging on their pets.

  • North East of England – 72 percent of owners are buying between one and three gifts per pet this Christmas
  • Scotland – 69 percent of owners are buying between one and three gifts per pet this Christmas
  • West Midlands – 64 percent of owners are buying between one and three gifts per pet this Christmas
  • Wales – 56 percent of owners are buying between one and three gifts per pet this Christmas
  • London – 55 percent of owners are buying between one and three gifts per pet this Christmas

Amazon also teamed up with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home to deliver a Christmas donation and some of the best selling pet gifts to its residents. The company even provided a video of happy cats and dogs receiving their gifts.

It’s no surprise to hear the nation’s pets will be waking up to a magical Christmas this year, with lots of presents waiting for them under their Christmas tree. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for the dogs and cats in our care – and the best present we could give them this year is a loving new home.
For some animals, spending time in an unfamiliar environment can be stressful so our staff and volunteers do all they can to make their stay with us easier – this includes playing with fun games and puzzles to help keep the animals’ minds active.
We’re grateful to Amazon for kindly donating presents to help bring some festive cheer to our homeless dogs and cats looking for a family this Christmas.
