UPS to Hire About 95,000 Seasonal Employees

UPS is getting ready for the holiday season, and they will begin hiring employees to handle the increase in package volume that will start in November and end in January 2018.

“Our seasonal jobs often lead to permanent employment and even careers for some. We offer flexible shifts and full- and part-time positions. If you are a student, a working mom or just looking to make extra money for the holidays, we have a job for you.”

CEO David Abney

Most seasonal positions include package handlers at sorting facilities, drivers and driver helpers. The company claims that about 35 percent of seasonal workers end up with permanent positions at the company.

Because UPS is expanding to Saturday delivery, there may be a better opportunity for seasonal part-time employees to stay on after this season ends. Previously seasonal workers had to work several part-time stints before a permanent opportunity became available to them.

ECOMMERCE GROWTH PRIMARY FACTOR IN UPS EXPANSION

This year, UPS announced they are expanding their delivery services to Saturdays on residential deliveries. The service improvement is being phased in with many major metro areas already included for the 2017 holiday season.

For eCommerce companies that rely on UPS, this means faster deliveries of holiday packages to their customers.
